The topic of my Vitrual Field Trip is Ralph Vaughan Williams.  He is a composer raised in Great Britain.  We will visit several places including where he has born, lived, Colleges/Universities that he attended/worked for a couple other notable places during his lifetime as well as where he is buried.  This will go along with a Unit used in the classroom on composers of the 20th Century.  To take the virtual trip, please click on the link provided link to map.  Hope you enjoy your virtual tour of Great Britain and several places associated with the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Social Bookmarking

Today in our Instructional Technology class, we created a way to store our links and bookmarks by using an online produce.  The product we used was Diigo.  We created a Diigo account.  It allows to archive and share my URL favorites online.  This also allows me to display my bookmarks in my Diigo Library which can be found by going to this link http://www.diigo.com/user/gman1996.

This tool was new to the majority of the class.  I think it will be a good tool to use in the future.  This can be used to grade students work in class when using the computer and will enable me to place notes for corrections and highlight areas that may need improvement.

Google Earth

Today in class we met virtually.  We were given discussion questions to answer pertaining to our teaching certuification and Google Earth.  We were given a spreadsheet by Dr. Pierce titled "poop" where we incorporated our personal information containing our name, mailing address, blog address, web site and our e-mail addresses.   We then went to BatchGeocode.com and copied and pasted the information from the spreadsheet and mapped out all of the students locations that are currently taking this class. Here is the web address to view the map created in class http://www.batchgeo.com/map/c4b9d3cf93a5cd74e00ffd3e760364eb

Midterm Assigmnent

Today in class we performed a mid term assignment showing how to use excell spreadsheets.  We used formulas and/or functions to perform this task. This was the assignment:

In Excel, use formulas and/or functions to answer the following questions:

How many 1) males, 2) females, 3) traditional 4) non-traditional undergraduates, 5) graduates 6) in-service graduate student that are currently teaching, and 7) total respondents.
What was the average score for each category above 3-6 (trad, non-trad, grad, inservice grad)?
Create a column chart of the averages by group classification (1-4) and move it to its own worksheet. Rename the work-sheet Averages by Group.  Make sure your chart has added data labels to show the values and a heading.
Do a ttest between the highest and lowest average and determine if it is statistically significant.  When conducting the ttest use a 1, 2 for the tails (1) and type (2) fields of the ttest function as we did in class.
Upload, share your doc with me ricpierce@gmail.com, and publish your spreadsheet in Google Docs.
Create a blog post that summarizes the learning and link to your published spreadsheet document.
